Today’s Meditation – Connecting with the mouth, throat, and esophagus
Instructions
Hello, and welcome to this meditation. The beginning of the digestive system is perhaps the most important, as the entire system is activated and stimulated as soon as food hits the tongue! Today we will be connecting with the mouth, throat, and the esophagus.
Make sure that you’re in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. You may sit or lie down, and allow your eyes to close…
Now, I would like you to begin to connect with your mouth. Move your jaw around, left to right…back and forth… and allow it to become slack as you relax and soften the muscles around it.
Wiggle your tongue, now, and let it run over and around your teeth…and explore the roof of your mouth…and the insides of your cheeks…
Now, feel the back of your throat. Envision it…the oral cavity…the pharynx. All of the parts of the body that help you swallow food…
Moving lower, now, we come to the top of the esophagus. The esophagus is a long tube that connects the throat to the stomach. The walls of the esophagus contain muscles that guide food down to the stomach. Envision it, now…
Spend a few moments visualizing all of the parts that make up the upper digestive system, now. Expressing wonder and gratitude for them all…
When you are ready to end this meditation, gently open your eyes, allow yourself to yawn or stretch, and return to your surroundings.
This meditation helps in connecting with the mouth, throat, and esophagus – healing, activating, and stimulating the entire digestive system.
