As many of us are staying safe within our homes, it is easy to become distracted by all that’s occurring and changing in our external worlds. Our daily lives and routines may have changed, our feelings and emotions are vacillating, and our connections with others looks different. We can take advantage of Social distancing and make it a time to reconnect with Yourself.
Many of us are experiencing a wide range of emotions, thoughts, and uncertainties right now. But as our external world is rapidly shifting, we have been gifted an amazing opportunity to find the balance we have been seeking.
According to Ayurveda, we have been experiencing a Vata imbalance as a society on a collective level. And individually, our often busy lives have been filled with juggling multiple tasks, roles, duties, and schedules. So now, in this time of Social Distancing, how can we choose to spend this time?
Social Distancing: A Time to Shift Our Energy
We can take in every moment, connecting with each other and with nature in ways we may not have taken the time to do before. We use this as an opportunity to care for ourselves and to live in ways we have been desiring.
It is important to shift our energy to vibrate higher by spending time doing activities we love:
– reading good books
– meditating
– cooking
– spending time in nature
– connecting with our family and friends on deeper levels
– listening to our favorite music
– enjoying the little things
– laughing and playing
But your home is also a space for your personal self growth.
As social beings, we are naturally drawn to and seek connection with others. From the time we were born, we have been shaped and conditioned by our external world. We have lived much of our lives conforming to the conditioning that has shaped us into who we have become. We have been influenced by our parents and families, our friends, our loved ones, our jobs, our society, and the media every day of our lives. And throughout all that we lose touch with ourselves as individuals.
Social Distancing: A Time to Go Inward
We now have the chance to slow down and remain present. To observe the feelings that are coming up and then send those areas love. We can sit in stillness, reflecting on all that we are grateful for in this very moment. Nothing is taken for granted anymore.
You can ask yourself, “What is this challenging me to do and what is this allowing me to do?”
How often have we truly taken the time to go inward and spent time getting to know ourselves on a deeper level, outside of the usual structure we are used to?
It’s truly beautiful to witness, but it can be hard if we fight the change. It’s normal to struggle being outside our norm, but it forces us to open our heart and mind. We are here to experience the joy in the moment.
This practice of self-discovery and self-love is how we can begin to serve our world in this time. Because when we take care of ourselves first, we can then be our best for those around us. Use this time to support yourself physically as well by continuing to move your body, get sunshine, eat nourishing food, staying hydrated, and support your immunity with YouVeda’s Immunity Support Packs.
Many of us are drawn to help those in need, to support in times of uncertainty, to guide others along their path, and to care for others who are struggling. But we also must remember that we cannot be our best selves for others until we care for ourselves first. We all need each other right now, and our generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness for each other will carry us through.
So this is your time!
We are here to guide you, but it is up to you to step into you full power, and to do what needs to be done for you. Never ever forget that happiness comes from within. And we are all in this together.
